Als Tweede Kerstdag anders gaat dan verwacht...
Piet werd tijdens de kerkdienst weggeroepen voor een Medevac. Een zieke vrouw uit een bushdorpje met bevalling complicaties, 4 dagen na de geboorte van haar tweeling.. Wat bijzonder om juist vandaag Jezus' liefde uit te stralen!
De moeder werd op de avond van 1e Kerstdag na een lange voettocht door de bush naar de kliniek in Mougulu gebracht.
De Australische zendelinge die daar woont, schrijft:
“Nothing looks as good as that torch light arriving after a long walk to bring a mother to safety.
Update on yesterday, the trainee health workers walked down to meet the group carrying the mother to the health centre yesterday afternoon. This morning just before 5am the carriers arrived.
Mother and babies all here safe, but they may need referral to a hospital. Two lovely baby boys - one weighing in at 1500g and one at 1800g (about 3.3lbs and almost 4 lbs). The only way to do this is by light aircraft - we are a weeks walk from our nearest hospital.
Thank you for keeping this little family in your thoughts.
We need to build a waiting house and find funding for some rations so that mothers like this can stay close when they are almost due. (There is no food and no stores to buy food here.) This mother came to ante natal clinic on Wednesday and walked back to the village, then delivered on Thursday. There is much to do!”
De volgende dag, zondag, werd Piet opgeroepen voor een medische evacuatie om haar van Mougulu naar het ziekenhuis in Kiunga te brengen. Haar moeder, man en twee baby’s gingen ook mee.
“Thanks to our health workers, Western Provincial Health Authority, and MAF, our lady is now finally on her way to further care with twin baby boys in tow.
This joint effort is a great example of the challenges we face to provide care for the ladies or anyone needing extra care, but how working together we can see good results.
Poor communication, no local facilities, many hours rough walk to the nearest health care worker, shortage of medicines, evacuation by plane, and finally this mother & the tiny babies will make it to the hospital this afternoon - 4 days after their birth and with complications.. to achieve such results takes a huge amount of resources, manpower and time to arrange - but the results will make it all worthwhile!”
Aangekomen in Kiunga nam het ambulance personeel het over en werd de vrouw naar het ziekenhuis gebracht. We bidden voor een spoedig herstel en bewaring voor de moeder en haar twee baby's!
